STEMI’s Emergency Doctor Bag Course (EDBC) has been designed to provide GP’s, and other practitioners, the necessary knowledge and skills to use the PBS Emergency Doctor Bag allocated medications to address common medical emergencies which present to general practice and within the community. For those in GP training, STEMI’s EDBC is the only course in Australia to meet the new 2005 RACGP V.12 Requirement for Fellowship when combined with STEMI’s ACLS 3A course.
Skills: Rapidly identify common emergencies, and properly begin treatment. Properly assess the unconscious patient
Apply a rigid spinal collar. Provide medications via: nebuliser, IM, IV, SC, SL, Nebuliser, and PR Establish an intravenous line. Properly auscultate the chest, and identify normal, wheeze, and crackles. Perform the above on adult and paediatric patients.
Accreditation:
•RACGP: This Active Learning Module has been approved by the RACGP QA&CPD Program for 40 Category 1 Points and MOPS Emergency.
•RACGP: This course meets part of the V.12 Fellowship Requirements (ACLS 3A is also required to completely meet the requirement)
•ACRRM: This course has been accredited for 20 PDP points (MOPS Anaesthetics = 10)
This course qualifies under the “Strengthening Medicare” GP Procedural Upskilling Support program for up to $2,000/day reimbursement (Category 1&2)

Duration:
Courses are 8 hours in length and conducted onsite, on demand, anywhere in Australia with participants minimums as low as 8 people in many cases.

Lecture: 3 hours
Skills practice: 3 hours
Skills demo: 2 hour
Testing, evaluation, feedback: 2 hours
Total: 11 Hours (1.5 days)
