Non Doctor - Level I
Level 1B:
This class is a natural progression from Level 1A, with the introduction of ACLS interventions, enhanced patient evaluation, and preparation for ALS interventions. Upon completion, participants will be able to assess a patient in cardiopulmonary distress and prepare for ALS interventions. Additional information will be provided in anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, and pathology.
Skills: General patient evaluation, setup of ALS interventions (manual defibrillator, intubation, IV access, ECG, suction), basic airway interventions (nasal and oral), and team skills within an ALS team. Participants will not be taught how to use ALS interventions, rather be comfortable assisting with ALS interventions. Level 1A completion is required prior to enrolment. Skill competency in all areas is required for certification.

Level 1C:
This class is directed towards non-doctor staff frequently faced with the need to initiate ALS interventions while awaiting a doctor’s arrival. Increased assessment, anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, and mechanisms behind interventions are discussed. The DRABCDE is explored and discussed.
Skills: Adult CPR, basic and advanced airways (manual, oral/nasal, LMA, Laryngeal Tube, intubation), manual defibrillation, IV setup and administration, drug administration, ECG interpretation (in the arrest environment). Skill competency in all areas is required for certification.

Level 1A:
This class focuses on adult basic life support interventions and general signs and symptoms of heart attacks. Upon completion, participants will be able to assess the need for basic interventions and apply them as necessary. Skill competency in all areas is required for certification. This is not a registered CPR course, and may or may not count towards a CPR requirement.
Skills: General patient evaluation, CPR, choking, and use of the SAED (Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator)
